Its first service began in 1983 and during the twenty years that have passed Air Seychelles became a well-established international airline with the youngest fleet in the Indian Ocean, operating to 14 destinations on three continents. Air Seychelles HistoryIn 1977, the government of Seychelles formed a company to take over several small aircraft operators and rationalise the inter-island routes, leaving other companies to bring in visitors from Europe. A year later, the government company is renamed and Air Seychelles is officially created as a domestic airline. In 1983, Air Seychelles begins the first weekly flight to Europe- Mahe-Frankfurt-London. In 1989 Air Seychelles acquires a brand new Boeing 767-200 ER (Extended Range) that later serves London, Paris, Frankfurt, Zurich and Rome. In 1993, Air Seychelles extended its flights to serve Madrid, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Dubai, Mumbai and Singapore. Air Seychelles websiteThe official Air Seychelles website
